venue Spotlight: wolf and harp norway, Maine

I always say my design style is coupling the old with the new. I love to see vintage and mid century pieces partnered with new, bold elements. This might be why I fell in love with Wolf and Harp the minute I stepped through the front door. The mansion, built in 1896, has been a fixture in the small western Maine town for over 100 years and boasts a mid century modern interior with a Victorian inspired exterior. I am a sucker for staircases, and the mansion has a stunning entry staircase. The carriage house also has a beautiful staircase that begs to be decorated with beautiful cascading flowers.

The mansion holds 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms so there is ample space for the wedding party to get ready. The master bathroom is equipped with a modern bridal station where all the hair and make up magic happen. There is an outdoor space for the wedding ceremony, a exquisite deck for cocktail hour, and the beautiful carriage house for the reception. The carriage house can seat up to 125 and includes a bar, tables, and chairs.

The venue manager, Rylee, is incredibly helpful, friendly, easy to talk to, and knowledgeable. As she led me on the tour, she shared stories about the house and the spaces. Her favorite space is the basement speakeasy. This space is incredible and completely unique! It’s like a little piece of history brought to present day. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming but also a bit mysterious. This is a perfect space for an after party. I always enjoy touring a venue that has multiple spaces with some surprise spaces thrown in. Each space having unique features that draw couples in. This venue is perfect for the couple who wants to have an outdoor wedding but wants to keep the reception indoors. It will be the right fit for the couple who wants to continue celebrating with a special, intimate after party, all in a space that holds an incredible amount of history.

A little bit more about Wolf and Harp from their website:

“The 60x40 post & beam barn was renovated in 2018 and is the perfect space for weddings and events. Wolf and Harp is the ideal venue for an evening out, private party, or intimate wedding reception. Norway is a small thriving town in the western lakes and mountains region, home to Lake Pennesseewassee, and was named one of the ‘’Best Places’’ in Maine by Downeast Magazine in 2015. As an all-season location, there are year-round activities such as hiking, biking, snowshoeing, skiing, dog sledding, boating, shops, and restaurants in the charming setting of downtown Norway. Just 1 hour to Portland,1 hour to North Conway, and only 40 minutes to Sunday River in Bethel.”
