I have always loved editorials. They offer a rare kind of creative freedom. The space to explore an idea fully, to work slowly and intentionally, and to design without compromise. Editorials allow me to step into a setting with fresh eyes, study its architecture and light, and imagine what it could become when beauty, meaning, and craft are given the time they deserve.

This holiday inspired shoot at Ash Point Estate in Owl’s Head, Maine was rooted in that exact joy. Set along the coast and dusted with fresh snowfall, the estate felt quietly cinematic. Elegant but unpretentious, grand yet deeply grounded in place. Winter softened the landscape and brought with it a sense of nostalgia, creating the perfect foundation for a Christmas inspired celebration that felt warm, intentional, and refined.

Designing in a space I have never worked in before is one of my favorite challenges. There is something deeply rewarding about learning a new environment, its scale, its movement, its natural rhythm, and allowing the design to respond rather than overpower. Each room presents its own conversation, and the goal is always the same. To honor the space while creating something entirely new within it.

The vision for this shoot blended classic holiday elements with a modern sensibility. Rich reds were paired with crisp whites and soft metallic, creating contrast without heaviness. Gold flatware and hand calligraphed menus added a sense of ceremony, while cranberries floating in candlelight introduced a subtle seasonal detail that felt unexpected but quietly festive. Table lamps and layered lighting warmed the room, allowing the space to feel intimate, welcoming, and softly romantic despite the winter setting outside.

The draping transformed the room completely. It added depth, texture, and a sense of quiet drama, framing the space without overwhelming it. Behind the cake display, the fabric created a backdrop that felt intentional and architectural, elevating the presentation while still allowing the cake itself to remain the focal point. Every element was chosen with care, working together to create a setting that felt cohesive, elevated, and emotionally resonant.

This editorial came to life through collaboration with an extraordinary team, each creative bringing their expertise, thoughtfulness, and artistry to the table. The day was filled with creativity, ease, and so much laughter. As we stepped back to take it all in, one of the venue owners looked around the room and said, “Wow, I didn’t know our venue could look this beautiful!” Moments like that are deeply meaningful to me. They affirm the power of thoughtful design and the impact of collaboration done well.

That same level of care, discernment, and creative depth carries through every celebration I design. The work is never about excess. It is about intention, restraint, and creating something that feels both generous and deeply considered.
